about
I am a fine art photographer, living and working in the beautiful county of Cumbria in the North West of England.
Surrounded by nature, as I am, it is hard to ignore what's around me when making my work. However, I tend towards the abstract, with many of my images taking on a painterly feel and blurring the distinction between photography and painting, although everything I produce comes from my camera.
Preferring to avoid the use of photoshop for the purpose of image making, I instead use my camera to 'paint' and create the visions which I believe will have an interesting look and feel to them. Sometimes the final image will reveal the merest hint of the colour and form seen in the flesh.
I also experiment with printing techniques, often printing two separate images onto the same piece of paper to create something totally different from the original pieces, or by printing onto acetate and layering these together to produce a manually created composite image.
All of my work is printed by me in my studio at home using fine art archival papers and inks.
